Skip’s art interest began in 2004 when he decided
to take a college art course at Allen County
Community College (ACCC) where he worked as a
computer science instructor. He continued taking
various art courses during the next 3 years
covering all manner of art subjects and mediums.
Through trial and error, a measure of
frustration, and a few other painting workshops,
he developed and refined his artistic skills
becoming familiar with oil, acrylic, water color,
graphite, pastel, and conté crayon techniques.
Skip was first trained as a secondary school
teacher receiving both a BA and MA degree from
the University of Wisconsin plus another master’s
degree from USC . However, upon graduation from
college in 1967, he answered the call of military
service, pursued a career, and eventually retired
from the U. S. Marine Corps in 1990 as a
lieutenant colonel. From here, he joined the
teaching staff at ACCC from where he retired in 2005.
His art compositions reflect an affinity for
“realism” and detail. Oil, acrylic, and graphite
are his favorite medium and still life his
favorite subject. He has entered numerous art
shows and exhibits receiving many awards, honors,
and recognition. Originals and prints are
avail. Skip can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
