Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I received a B.F.A. in studio arts from Wichita State University where I studied painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, design and art history. Most recently I have studied painting with Phil Starke, Carol Marine, Jim Clements, Kim Casebeer, Mary Binford Miller, Kwan Wu, Frank Francese and Frank La Lumia, as well as classes at Mark Arts.
Although I enjoy painting all aspects of nature, I especially love painting en plein air. Resolving the complications of fleeting light and changing shadows, color shifts and mood is a continuous learning process with unending possibilities. I believe there is a need in every human being to relate to the natural environment — to the permanent, enduring quality found in the landscape. It has been said that ‘the confluence of the tangible and the spiritual is where Art comes from’. It is my goal that an element of the spiritual be communicated through my work.
